Tim is a consultant in Anaesthesia. His special clinical interests include anaesthesia for Liver and Multi-visceral transplantation and complex/critical illness. He has expertise in quality improvement enhancing patient experience and the creation/use of medical data systems. He is passionate about providing and ensuring the highest standards of care to his patients.
A scholarship to Christ’s Hospital in West Sussex, funded by the Society of Apothecaries, ensured his childhood dream of becoming a doctor became a reality. Tim went on to train at the internationally renowned St Bartholomew’s teaching hospital (Barts Health NHS Trust) in the City of London and The Royal London medical school, qualifying with a distinction in 2009.
Tim now sits on the Court (Board) of the Society of Apothecaries and is a member of the Societies Charity Committee so he can provide support for young people from under privileged or minority backgrounds, and in financial hardship, so they are able to complete their training and qualify as doctors.
In 2018, the same year Tim became an NHS Entrepreneurial Fellow (NHS Innovation – a programme designed for training and promoting innovation and commercial success within the NHS), he co-founded SympTech Ltd, developing technology and data systems to improve the symptom management of patients receiving medical care with a focus on collating and analysing a symptom-based datasets.
His multiple awards include Styker - Partners in Prevention Scholarship for BACCN (2018), Innovation award Addenbrookes Charitable Trust (2017), the Harold Youngman Medal, the Freedom of the City of London, the Haymaket Trust Elective Prize Award.
Tim’s myICUvoice application has been described as “Outstanding”. The Care Quality Commission review of Cambridge University Hospital listed the project as one of the 10 ‘Outstanding’ areas of clinical work back in 2015. This project has since been designed, created, implemented, reviewed and iterated over the subsequent years – and the extensive work has set the foundations for generating a technical system designed for intuitive clinical implementation extending across multiple ICUs and into other areas of clinical medicine.
Out of the hospital, Tim is a keen photographer, enjoys outdoor pursuits and is an expert in booking last-minute (disaster) holidays.
